Open SDVOSB set-aside contracts
SAM.gov (System for Award Management, the government's contracting website) data through Oct 22, 2026: 369 open SDVOSB (service-disabled veteran-owned small business) set-aside solicitations (496 notices) on SAM.gov. Below you'll see who is buying, under which NAICS (North American Industry Classification System) codes, where the work is and how long you have to respond, and what that means for where to spend your bid time.
What the numbers say
- Department of Veterans Affairs accounts for 186 of the 369 open solicitations (50%).
- The top two agencies (Department of Veterans Affairs and Defense Logistics Agency) together account for 95%; no other agency has more than 6.
- The Defense Logistics Agency posts 164 (44%), mostly parts and supplies on short windows: 71% of DLA's are due within 7 days (median 4 days left), against 38% for all other agencies (median 11 days). If you sell services or construction, the 205 solicitations from other agencies are the ones to look at.
- 304 of 369 (82%) close within 14 days, so checking once a week misses many of them. Check SAM.gov daily, or use a daily digest.
- 148 were first posted in the 7 days through Oct 22, 2026.
- SDVOSB set-asides are 12% of all 2,988 open set-aside solicitations of any type on the same date.

8 examples, with our take
A mixed handful, not the full list: different agencies, NAICS codes and notice types, each with at least 5 days left. Each title opens the official notice on SAM.gov. The one-line take is ours, written from the notice's structured fields; read the notice itself before deciding anything.
- Snow and Ice Removal Management Services
Our take: Solicitation is posted, so this can be bid now; a Veterans Affairs buy, so the firm must be certified through the SBA (Small Business Administration) VetCert program (self-certification is not accepted); only 5 days left.
- 36-Month Electrical Distribution Testing
Our take: Solicitation is posted, so this can be bid now; a Veterans Affairs buy, so the firm must be certified through the SBA VetCert program (self-certification is not accepted); only 5 days left.
- J061--TRIENNIAL ELECTRICAL MAINTENANCE FY26 AMENDMENT #3 Q&A RESPONSE, SCOPE UPDATE, DRAWINGS AND PANEL LISTS NEW DEADLINE: 10/27/26 POP START DATE: 12/01/2026
Our take: Solicitation is posted, so this can be bid now; a Veterans Affairs buy, so the firm must be certified through the SBA VetCert program (self-certification is not accepted); construction, so check bonding and site-visit requirements early; only 5 days left.
- Boat Tow
Our take: Solicitation is posted, so this can be bid now; coded SDVOSB sole source, which usually means the agency already has a specific firm in mind, so read it as a sign of what the agency wants, not as a bid to chase; only 5 days left; no place of performance in the structured data.
- 53--NUT,MAIN GEAR SKID
Our take: Solicitation is posted, so this can be bid now; a typical DLA parts buy: low price usually wins and the deadline is short; only 5 days left; no place of performance in the structured data.
- Mississippi River Basin Bettendorf, Iowa Local Flood Protection Bettendorf, Iowa 2024 Event PL84-99 Flood Repairs
Our take: Presolicitation: nothing to bid yet, but it announces a solicitation to watch for; construction, so check bonding and site-visit requirements early; only 6 days left.
- Contractor-Hosted Fully Integrated Records Facility (FIRF) IDIQ
Our take: Solicitation is posted, so this can be bid now; it is an umbrella contract, the kind called an IDIQ (indefinite-delivery, indefinite-quantity contract) or a BPA (blanket purchase agreement): winning it gets you on the contract, and the paid work comes later as separate orders; only 7 days left.
- Sextant, Marine; [WSDC: 23N] End Item: Ship, Ohio Class SSN (Trident) PR: 7017536460 NSN: 6605-012533442
Our take: Presolicitation: nothing to bid yet, but it announces a solicitation to watch for; a typical DLA parts buy: low price usually wins and the deadline is short; 29 days left.
What is an SDVOSB set-aside?
SDVOSB set-asides limit competition to small businesses owned and controlled by one or more service-disabled veterans. Since January 1, 2023, the Small Business Administration (SBA) certifies SDVOSBs through its Veteran Small Business Certification (VetCert) program, which took the function over from the Department of Veterans Affairs (VA); certified SDVOSBs can compete for set-aside and sole-source contracts across the federal government, and VA set-asides require certification (no self-certification). The government-wide goal is to award at least 5% of federal prime contracting dollars to SDVOSBs each year. Source: SBA: Veteran contracting assistance programs.
How we count
Source: the public SAM.gov Contract Opportunities data file (SAM.gov data services), downloaded and processed by us; this snapshot uses data through Oct 22, 2026.
SDVOSB set-aside means the notice's set-aside code is SDVOSBC (SDVOSB set-aside) or SDVOSBS (SDVOSB sole source). The rules for these set-asides are in Federal Acquisition Regulation (FAR) subpart 19.14.
Open means, in SAM.gov data through Oct 22, 2026: the notice is still in the latest data file (active), it is a notice type you can respond to (combined synopsis/solicitation, solicitation, presolicitation, sources sought or special notice; award notices and standalone modification/cancellation notices are excluded), and its response date is Oct 22, 2026 or later. 79 active SDVOSB notices with no response date are left out.
Counted by solicitation: notices that share a solicitation number count once (the notice ID is used when there is none). A solicitation's deadline is the latest response date among its open notices; its agency, NAICS, state and type come from its most recent notice.
Counts are regenerated each time the site is built from the latest data, so they change daily. Notices can be amended or cancelled after we process them; SAM.gov is the official record. Fed Tipsheet is an independent service. Not affiliated with, endorsed by, or connected to SAM.gov, GSA (General Services Administration), SBA or any U.S. Government agency.
